Uncalled for story time!

HanSim

It started with an aarti…

3 October 2021

The day we met

Sketch of Simran doing Hans’s birthday aarti

Who knew that a birthday celebration at our best friends’ house would turn out to be the beginning of our very own love story?

It was Hans’s birthday, and as per family tradition, all the girls were asked to do his aarti.

And there we were, with Simran doing the aarti of a boy she had literally just met. No butterflies, no background music, no slow-motion entry. Just an aarti thali and absolutely no clue what life had planned for us.

Someone cast us in a KJO film already!

Little did we know that this very ordinary birthday ritual would become the opening scene of our story.

And then came the text

Sketch of Hans and Simran sharing a toast

The very next day, Hans texted Simran to say thank you for the aarti.

Yes, our love story began with a thank-you message. Not a cheesy pickup line. Not a grand gesture. Just good manners.

And somehow, that one little text turned into conversations, those conversations turned into something more, and before we knew it, we had a story worth telling.

Proof that sometimes, the universe has a better scriptwriter than Bollywood.

One of us made the first move

Sketch of Hans and Simran sitting together, smiling

Plot twist: Simran asked Hans out.

Because apparently, waiting around for the hero to make his move was not on the agenda.

One little leap of faith, a whole lot of butterflies, and suddenly, we were no longer just the girl who did the aarti and the boy who said thank you.

We were us.

Hans said yes, Simran made the first move, and honestly? Best decision ever.

Vietnam, and a very important question

Sketch of two hands and an engagement ring before a castle

Fast-forward to Vietnam, where Hans decided to make things official-official.

This time, it was his turn to ask the big question.

And the answer was yes.

Yes to each other. Yes to us. Yes to a lifetime of adventures, inside jokes, silly fights, making up, and arguing over absolutely nothing.

Basically, a lifetime subscription to each other. No cancellation policy.

The next chapter

And somehow, here we are.

What began with a little aarti on a birthday, followed by a thank-you text, a first move and a question in Vietnam, has brought us here.

To a love we get to call our own. To a life we cannot wait to build together. And to the beginning of our favourite chapter yet.

Funny how life’s most beauiful moments often begin without us even realising it.

And as we step into this new chapter, there’s one little thing we’ll carry with us, always.

Life Is Beauiful,

as Simran’s Dad always said.

And yes, Beauiful will always be spelt wrong. Because the T stands for tension and according to Dad, life has far too much beauty in it to waste time on that.

So, Beauiful it is.

And as we begin our forever, we know he’ll always be a part of our story.
